Client payments, fees and paying for Helms

Can my clients pay me through Helms?

Not directly. Helms doesn't process payments, so your clients pay you on your own Stripe or GoCardless account and Helms reads those numbers to show your monthly revenue, payments and P&L.

That's deliberate. Your money never runs through me, and there's nothing to untangle if you leave. It does mean one more account to set up if you don't have Stripe or GoCardless already.

Does Helms take a cut of what my clients pay me?

No. Helms takes no percentage and charges no payment add-on, because the payment happens on your own Stripe or GoCardless account.

You still pay Stripe's or GoCardless's own processing fees, the same as any business using them.

What do other coaching platforms charge on payments?

On their own sites on 2026-10-20, TrueCoach listed a flat 5% fee per transaction, Everfit a $9 a month payments fee plus processing, and Trainerize a $10 a month Stripe add-on. Kahunas says it takes no commission on sales.

Sources: TrueCoach processing fees, Everfit processing fees, Trainerize pricing and the Kahunas FAQ. TrueCoach says its 5% applies to refunds too.

Can I take Direct Debit from UK clients?

Yes, if you use GoCardless. Helms reads your GoCardless subscriptions alongside Stripe, so Direct Debit clients show up in your revenue the same as card clients.

Can I sell session packs or programmes through Helms?

Helms tracks session packs, with the number of sessions, usage and expiry, but it doesn't take the payment for them. You sell the pack on your own Stripe or GoCardless and record it in Helms.

Helms doesn't have a shop for one-off programmes yet.

Do I need a card to start on Helms?

No card is needed for the Free plan, which covers up to 7 clients for as long as you like. The paid plans start with a 14 day free trial that takes a card at the start and bills on day 15.

Is there a contract, and can I cancel Helms any time?

There's no contract. Helms bills monthly or yearly, and if you cancel, the plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for and then drops to Free.

Nothing is deleted when it drops to Free. Your clients and their history stay where they are.

Can I move between Helms plans?

Yes, up or down at any time. If you move down while you have more clients than the smaller plan allows, Helms asks you to archive some first rather than hiding anyone.

Is there a one-off price instead of a subscription?

No. Helms is billed monthly or yearly, and paying yearly works out at two months free: £689, £1,189 or £2,789 a year for Coach, Studio or Team.

Can clients sign a contract or waiver in Helms?

Yes. You send a contract from Helms and the client signs it in the app by typing their name, which records the signature and the date, and it can only be signed once.

What currency can I charge clients in?

Whatever your own Stripe or GoCardless account charges in, because Helms never takes the payment itself. Helms's own plans are priced in pounds.
