Your clients' app: iPhone, Android, Apple Watch and your own brand
Do my clients need to download an app to use Helms?
Helms clients can download the app from the App Store or use it in a browser and add it to their home screen. On a paid plan the App Store app can carry your name, icon and colours, and on Free clients use the Helms app with your business name inside it.
Either way they log offline and it syncs when the signal comes back. The Helms app is on the App Store at apps.apple.com.
Start freeIs there an Android app for clients?
No. Helms has no Play Store app yet, so Android clients use the web app, which installs to the home screen and works offline.
The web app doesn't send Android push notifications, so those clients get reminders in the app and by email instead. If most of your clients are on Android, Trainerize, TrueCoach, Everfit, Kahunas and PT Distinction all list an Android app on their own sites, and one of them will suit you better today.
Is there an Apple Watch app for Helms?
No, Helms has no Apple Watch app. Clients log sets on their phone or in the browser, and Apple Health fills in steps, heart rate and sleep on iPhone.
If a watch app matters to you, Trainerize has a native one bundled with its iOS app (Trainerize help), and Everfit supports Apple Watch and Wear OS (Everfit help).
Can I have my own branded coaching app in the App Store?
Yes, on any paid Helms plan your clients can download an App Store app with your name, icon and colours. You enrol in Apple's Developer Program yourself, which Apple charges $99 a year for, and I build and submit the app for you.
Two coaches are live this way today, Logan Russo Coach and CRM Physique. It isn't self-serve yet: I do each build by hand. Apple's fee is on Apple's enrolment page.
What do other coaching platforms charge for a branded app?
On their own sites on 2026-10-20, Trainerize charged a one-time $169 setup on Pro, Kahunas included a branded app only on its $99 a month Ultimate plan, and Everfit kept a fully white-labelled app for Enterprise. PT Distinction includes branding on Pro and Master, and TrueCoach themes its own app with your logo on Standard and Pro.
Sources: Trainerize pricing, Kahunas plans, Everfit pricing, PT Distinction branded app and TrueCoach features. PT Distinction says its iOS app is a shared App Store app that brands itself on login, and most of these need your own Apple developer account too.
Is a branded coaching app worth it, or am I just paying for a logo?
On its own, a logo rarely keeps a client. In my experience people stay because they feel someone actually read their check-in, whatever app it's sitting in.
Where a branded app helps is the "wait, which app was it" moment, though a pinned link in your welcome message fixes that for nothing. If your clients are happy and it's only about the logo, I wouldn't switch platforms for it.
How long does it take to get a branded app live?
Most of the wait for a Helms branded app is Apple, not me. Apple enrolment as an individual usually takes a day or two, enrolling a company with a D-U-N-S number can take a week or two, and then the app goes through App Store review.
Your clients can start on the Helms app with your business name inside it while that happens, so nobody waits to start training.
Can I coach from an Android phone?
Yes. The Helms coach side is a web app that works in a phone browser, so a coach on Android can run their roster while their clients use the iPhone app.
It's the client app that has no Android version yet, not the coach side.
Is Helms available in other languages?
No. Helms is in English only for now, for coaches and clients alike, though weights can be shown in kilos, pounds or stone.
Do clients pay anything to use Helms?
No. Helms is paid for by the coach, and your clients pay you directly for coaching through your own Stripe or GoCardless.
Do clients get push notifications?
Clients on the iPhone app get push notifications for check-in reminders, workout nudges and messages. Clients using the web app get the same reminders in the app's feed and by email, because Helms doesn't send web push yet.
